Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS) has responded to the Chancellor’s statement on Thursday, that government support schemes are to be extended.
Reacting to news of the extensions, CAS welcomed the move but urged more support for those falling between the gaps.
CAS Social Justice spokesperson Mhoraig Green said:"We're glad the Chancellor has listened to the evidence from us and so many others on the necessity of extending the furlough and self-employed income support schemes, giving some certainty back to people over winter.
“The restrictions affecting people's work are necessary to save lives but it is also vital to make sure workers don't suffer as a result.
“This extension will be a lifeline to many but we are still concerned about those excluded from these schemes and other forms of government support.
“Our response to coronavirus is not a zero-sum game. We must keep people safe from the virus and from falling into poverty.
“The Citizens Advice network provides free, confidential and independent advice across Scotland and we encourage anyone concerned about their livelihoods to contact their local Citizens Advice Bureau.”
