If you’re currently getting Healthy Start vouchers and you live in Scotland, these will stop on 31 March 2020.
Healthy Start vouchers are being replaced by a new Scottish benefit, called Best Start Foods. The benefit is paid in the form of credit on a chip and pin card. It can be used to buy healthy foods for children under three.
If you’re currently getting Healthy Start vouchers you do need to apply for Best Start Foods. You won’t be transferred automatically. You should have received a letter from Social Security Scotland inviting you to apply before the end of March so that you don’t miss out on getting your Best Start Foods.
You can apply:
- online – on the Social Security Scotland website
- by phone – by phoning Social Security Scotland on 0800 182 2222
- by post – you can download the application form from the mygov.scot website or you can phone Social Security Scotland and ask for one to be posted to you.
