Challenge Poverty Week

Challenge Poverty Week

30th September 2020

Challenge Poverty Week will be running this year from 5th - 11th October 2020.

Citizens Advice Scotland are supporting this campaign, which is run by the Poverty Alliance. Citizens Advice bureaux are vital sources of support helping people who are facing poverty in Scotland and we are encouraging our network to also support this campaign. You will have access to a social media toolkit, press release template and template letter for local MPs and MSPs, all downloadable below.

Challenge Poverty Week is designed to highlight the growing problem of poverty in Scotland and showcase the solutions we can all get behind to solve it.

How you can get involved

Citizens Advice Scotland will be supporting Challenge Poverty Week on our social media channels during the live campaign period (5 – 11 October). There is a theme for every day, which we will using to signpost to relevant information from CAS. Bureaux are welcome to share our content or create their own.

We have provided suggested social media copy for supporting Challenge Poverty Week below in our toolkit and downloadable graphics for use every day during the campaign, all downloadable below. The Poverty Alliance have also provided their own assets, which you can access here.

The key messages of Challenge Poverty Week are:

›     Too many people in Scotland are living with the constant pressure of living in poverty.  As we plan our economic recovery, we must redesign our economy to reflect the values of justice and compassion we all share.

›     By boosting people’s incomes and reducing the cost of living we can solve poverty.

On the first day of Challenge Poverty Week, Poverty Alliance will share a one minute animation from the Poverty Alliance Twitter account which we would encourage you to share.
